Abstract: We have studied for a long time the physical and chemical nature of our solar system, its formation, the evolution of its different bodies and their chemical composition. If the physics and the chemistry we know to be valid in our planet works everywhere in the solar system, the question is, why not biology? In this paper, the aims and methodology of astrobiology to understand the possibilities for life in our solar system are summarized. The objective is to share with astronomers this experience in the exploration of our neighborhood so that it could be extended, obviously using different techniques, to the search for life in extrasolar planetary systems.
