Abstract: I present here some results of the HALOGAS (Westerbork Hydrogen Accretion in LOcal GAlaxieS) survey, focussing on the galaxy NGC 3198. The aim of HALOGAS is to investigate the presence, morphology, and kinematics of extraplanar gas. By modelling the observations, for the first time we reveal the presence of extraplanar gas in NGC 3198. The extraplanar gas rotates more slowly with increasing height from the midplane, with a vertical gradient of the order of 10 km s-1 kpc-1. I am also briefly discussing the HALOGAS sample as a whole.
