Abstract: The three-decade period that started in 1982 with an RCA CCD with 163840 pixels at the Blanco prime focus and today has DECam with 62 science CCDs and 520,093,696 pixels is a journey where one encounters six cameras, three optical correctors and, pre-DECam, 25 CCDs of six different types. I'll briefly describe a few highlights.
