Abstract: A re-analysis of four observations (during 2001-2002) with XMM-Newton of the recent classical nova V2487 Oph 1998 in its post-outburst stage is presented. A fluorescent Kα emission line produced by neutral iron was detected at about 6.4 keV indicating the presence of reflection of bremsstrahlung hard X-rays (probably on the white dwarf surface or in the disk, if any). This is a signature of the accretion process and can put constraints about the magnetic (i.e. polar or intermediate polar) or non-magnetic nature of the cataclysmic variable, the strength of the white dwarf magnetic field and the area of the compact object involved in accretion. Such a feature, never observed before in a post-outburst classical nova (but only in accreting white dwarfs in cataclysmic variables) provides a proof of the fast recovery of accretion in V2487 Oph 1998, but it is not yet clear if this is a general trend of this class of objects.
