Abstract: Although most symbiotics seem to interact by wind-driven mass loss, at least some of the systems with multiple outburst activity may contain a Roche-lobe filling giants. In most of the active systems a secondary periodicity appears during outburst, with P2 ~ 0.8-0.9 Porb, and their light curves show 'superhumps' similar to those found in cataclysmic variables. Some of them also show evidence for bipolar outflows. The activity in these systems can be thus related to the presence of accretion disks.
