Paper: Chapter 58: Introduction to SQL
Volume: 382, The National Virtual Observatory: Tools and Techniques for Astronomical Research
Page: 645
Authors: McGlynn, T.A.; Nieto-Santisteban, M.
Abstract: This chapter provides a very brief introduction to the Structured Query Language (SQL) for getting information from relational databases. We make no pretense that this is a complete or comprehensive discussion of SQL. There are many aspects of the language that will be completely ignored in the chapter. The goal here is to provide enough background so that users understand the basic concepts involved in building and using relational databases. We also go through the steps involved in building a particular astronomical database used in some of the other presentations in this volume.
