Abstract: This article discusses the relationship between the existence of mass flow and secondary star's Roche lobe volume. It is pointed that the special structure of Algol type binary cannot support long-term continuous mass flow mostly. According to the investigation, the upward parabolic curves in O-C diagrams (which is a direct evidence of long-existing mass flow) are not common. Besides, it is found that a large part of O-C diagrams show break lines which means there are period jumps in these Algol type binaries. The upward break lines may be caused by interruption of mass flow, and the downward break lines are guessed caused by the secondary star's unstable structure.
