Abstract: Using a relativistic test-particle code we study and compare the influence of static and stochastic electric fields on propagation of electron beams along the magnetic fieldlines through the solar atmosphere given by the VAL C model from the primary acceleration site in the corona downwards to the chromosphere. The results are compared with the most common, classical model of electron beam propagation, scattering and thermalisation given by Emslie (1978). The effects of the fields on the chromospheric heating and hard X-ray emission are discussed.
