Abstract: Astro D will be the fourth Japanese X-ray astronomy satellite and has major US participation. Penn State is writing software for the analysis of data from Astro D with emphasis on the Solid-state Imaging Spectrometers (SIS). Work is currently concentrated on producing a converter which will take satellite telemetry files and convert these to FITS files. The FITS output will be suitable for input to PROS and other analysis systems. This program is known as FRFREAD and is a stand-alone system independent of any other package. In addition to the conversion process, simple quick look analysis tasks are also supported. The program runs in two forms: one GUI (OpenLook) driven and another suitable for running in a pipe-line. Other related software being developed at Penn State includes Robot, a general purpose plotting and data analysis program and PIXI, an experimental GUI for IRAF. Both Robot are PIXI are available by anonymous ftp.
