Abstract: We estimate the injection rates of magnetic helicity and magnetic energy with data obtained by the Advanced Stokes Polarimeter (ASP) and SOHO/MDI. We find that magnetic helicity injected by the photospheric shear motion has a weak correlation with the variability of the EUV intensity, which would be related to sporadic heating of the corona. Three different methodologies to derive the vertical velocity, which is critical to estimate the injection rates, are compared and discussed.
