Abstract: The unified scheme between BL Lac objects and radio galaxies has been investigated on the basis of the viewing angle of the radio jet. The viewing angle is generally estimated from both the proper motion of the jet and the synchrotron self-Compton model. By this method, it was shown that the viewing angle of BL Lac objects is less than 30 degrees, and that of radio galaxy is more than 30 degrees. Interestingly, the radio galaxy 2201+004 was originally classified as a BL Lac object, but recent spectroscopy shows a Sy 1 type spectrum. In order to determine the type of this source because of the viewing angle and the speed of the jet, we measured its proper motion over 6 yrs with the VLBA and Japanese VLBI network at 8 GHz. We will present preliminary results for the proper motion of the jet in 2201+044.
