Abstract: |
We report on our ongoing multi-epoch Keck/NIRC2 imaging campaign
towards the Arches, the young (≈2My), massive (∼few
× 104 M☉) starburst cluster found only 30pc in
projection from the Galactic Center. We improved the precision of
proper motion in the Arches by a factor five by using a Keck-only
dataset. Using these measurements along with new proper motion
analysis techniques, we measure the intrinsic velocity dispersion of
the Arches for the first time and produce the first kinematic
mass estimate of (24< M < 51)×103 M☉. |
