Abstract: The nearby low-luminosity active galactic nucleus (LLAGN) M 81 has a clearly resolved compact jet structure with global VLBI observation, making this source an ideal laboratory to study the jet properties of LLAGNs in great detail. We constructed a spectral index distribution map of the jet of M 81 to investigate internal physical conditions such as acceleration/cooling properties and the resulting particle energy distribution. We discovered the strong gradient in the spectral index from the core region to the outer region of the jet. Our result indicates that the scenario of the optically thin synchrotron emission from a monoenergetic electron distribution is not a viable mechanism.
