Abstract: A multifluid hybrid code (currently 1D), which couples a sparse but energetic population of kinetically treated ions to a relatively dense, isotropic core of fluid treated electrons and protons, is presented. This choice of coupling is appropriate to heliospheric plasmas for which pickup ions, in particular, are coupled weakly via their pressure to a much colder, denser solar wind plasma.
