Abstract: We are now operating a regular imaging polarimetry observation in the Hα line to make magnetograms of the chromosphere with the Solar Flare Telescope at Mitaka, NAOJ. Full-Stokes data are taken at several wavelength offsets from the Hα center. Since each wavelength corresponds to a different height in the chromosphere, the observed data show the vector magnetic fields at various heights in the chromosphere. In addition, the Hα linear polarization data enable us to compare the fibril structures seen in Hα pictures with the orientation of the transverse magnetic field in the chromosphere. In an active region, NOAA 10720, a rapid shear development was found both in the fibril structure and in the Hα linear polarization signals consistently.
